Board Member Responsibilities
Individuals interested in serving on the Hearing Accessibility Advisory Board should be prepared to commit to the following responsibilities:
Attend Regular Meetings
Members are expected to participate in scheduled Board meetings, which are typically held quarterly or convened as necessary at the request of the Secretary, Board Chair, or majority of the Board Members.
Review Materials and Engage in Discussions
Members should review relevant materials in advance and actively contribute to discussions that inform the Board’s decisions and recommendations.
Represent Key Perspectives
Members are expected to represent the interests of individuals with hearing loss and/or bring professional expertise in assistive listening technologies to support the Board’s mission.
Support Policy and Waiver Reviews
Members may assist in reviewing waiver applications and proposed regulations related to assistive listening system requirements.
Who Can Serve on the Board?
The Hearing Accessibility Advisory Board is composed of individuals who either:
Members should have a strong interest in improving hearing accessibility across Maryland and be willing to participate in board meetings and related activities. Maryland residency is preferred.

Initial Review
Applications will be reviewed by the Department of General Services to determine alignment with board needs and eligibility requirements.
Recommendation & Appointment
Selected applicants will be recommended to the Secretary of the Department of General Services for formal appointment to the Board.
Notification
Applicants will be notified of their status once appointments are finalized.
