Public School Construction Program
The Public School Construction Program helps build and improve public schools across Maryland so students can learn in safe, modern spaces.
DGS reviews and approves school construction projects that receive State funding. This work helps make sure projects meet standards, use funds responsibly, and deliver quality schools for Maryland communities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participation in public hearings
- Assisting the Inter-Agency Commission with determining funding eligibility for certain programs
- Reviews design and construction documents for all Maryland public school projects estimated to cost $1 million or more.

LEA DD/CD Reviewer Certification Procedure
DGS LEA DD/CD Reviewer Certification is designed to streamline the State-funded school project review process by allowing qualified Local Education Agency (LEAs) the ability to perform their own design and construction reviews for public school construction. This process does not apply to schematic design, educational specifications or preventive maintenance.
